Visit to Malaka

Melaka River - Once dubbed ‘Venice of the East’ by European seafarers back in those days when the state has yet to be formed, Melaka River is the point where the history of Malacca began. A Prince from Sumatra, Parameswara – also the founder of Malacca – had established his sultanate near the mouth of this river in the early 1400s, and his palace was built on the east-bank of the river at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill, then known as Malacca Hill.

Heading towards the sea, the river passes through the town of Malacca and the many settlements situated along the riverbanks. From a place where major trade and commerce activities used to take place, it is now a major tourist attraction, a remnant from Malacca’s past left behind to tell the tale. A 45-minute cruise down the river via boat enables visitors to recall Malacca’s history while enjoying the rustic scene of leftovers from Malacca’s past. Covering a distance of 10 kilometres, the boat ride takes you all the way down to the infamous Kampung Morten.

Situated on the banks of Melaka River, just opposite the old Cathay Cinema near Jalan Hang Tuah bridge, the 25-metre-high Eye on Malacca is Malacca’s latest tourist attraction. It is expected to be bigger than Taman Tasik Titiwangsa’s Eye on Malaysia, as two other attractions have been added on to it – a trampoline bungee and a pirate ship – which can be experienced as a bundled deal along with a ride on the Eye on Malacca.

Eye On Malacca - Unlike Eye on Malaysia, Eye on Malacca is expected to be a permanent attraction in the state. Consisting of 16 pods, with each pod able to accommodate five adults at one time, patrons can enjoy a sprawling view of Malacca town from the highest point of the wheel, which is truly a sight to behold on a clear, sunny day.

At night, the whole attraction area bursts into life with neon lights and colourful lightings, providing a spectacular sight from afar.

A Famosa Water World - The A Famosa Water World is the largest water theme park in Malaysia located near Alor Gajah. Among the excitements found on the park are speed slides, raft rides, tube slides and a large wave pool.

Every weekend, it draws crowds from the Southern side of Malaysia who come to enjoy a splashing good time while exploring Malacca's historical sights.

D Paradise Malacca = D-Paradise is a concept tropical fruit and aboriginal village cum retreat in Malacca. This park has a host of attractions, while being conveniently located near the highway. While most would visit Malacca for a historical lesson and culture, a visit to D-Paradise promises an education of a different sort – a look at the plantation industry of Malaysia as well as its fauna heritage.

Some of the attractions here include the world’s largest collection of pumpkins, cactus and ‘monkey cups’; which are pitcher plants, a dragon fly sanctuary, anteaters; a unique furry mammal that has a nose-like appendage to suck up termites and ants for food, a biscuit hut; where delicious local pastries are made and much more.

Make a trip to the D-Paradise for a unique experience of a lifetime!
